Acre Baja, in San Jose Del Cabo is probably the most special place I’ve ever shot at (and stayed!). It is no secret bohemian weddings are my sweet spot, throw in tropical Mexico vibes and I am in heaven. Acre Baja has been on my bucket list of venues for what seems like forever. Set amongst 25 acres of lush jungle-like greenery, it is a bohemian dream. The giant cacti, festoon lights, fire-pit, and a hand painted mango orchard where weddings take place makes this place incredibly special. They have 12 treehouses, where guests can stay, an infinity pool and some of the best food and cocktails you will ever experience. We stayed here for 3 days so I can personally vouch for this! Burrito the donkey is the most famous resident of Acre Baja and regularly makes an appearance at weddings. As a destination wedding photographer, Cabo has become my new favourite location. Micheal and Cally are one of those couples you instantly fall in love with and have you say ‘they are so cute together’ so many times a day.
I have worked with Laura from Fawn Events a few times now, her vision and style is always so on-trend and she always goes above and beyond – like hiring the mariachi band! The 7 Piece Mariachi Band dressed in all white with a harp player nonetheless – the custom raw wood die cut signage and hand illustrated invitation suite, colorful farm to table menu items and eccentric signature drinks, the dreamiest of lounge vignettes including modern/vintage rentals that created the most romantic setting, and the most jaw dropping mixture of dried and fresh blooms that graced every vignette from top to bottom. And having the florist provide a floral wreathe for Burrito! I was blown away when it all came together.
I had a good chat with lead wedding planner from Acre Baja, Jessica about tips and advice for couples considering Acre Baja as their wedding venue. November – April is peak time, the weather during that time is perfect with temperatures not too high, slim risk of storms and the bugs aren’t too bad. Most brides tend not to get ready at Acre because the treehouses don’t offer any air conditioning and aren’t that roomy. Most couples opt for neighbouring hotels, and bus guests in and out. The wedding scene in Cabo is thriving so it isn’t hard to find everything you need. I can’t wait to return to Acre Baja to shoot a wedding soon!
